MEME

Version 2.0, including only shows I've gotten into in the past year and have seen almost all seasons of.

List your five favorite television shows:

Entourage
How I Met Your Mother
True Blood
Merlin (BBC)
Robin Hood (BBC)

and now answer 15 questions

1. Who is your favorite character from #2?
I CANNOT DECIDE. Seriously, I like them all so much. I am not a sitcom girl, and I hate laughing tracks, but I have fallen HARDCORE for this show. Gun to my head, it's a toss between Barney and Marshall, but what makes any character on this show great is how great everyone else is alongside them.
.

2. Who is your least favorite character from #4?
Uther, obvi. I don't think he's evil, exactly, it's just that between everyone, he's totally the one I've give the shaft. I know I'm not alone.
.

3. What would a crossover between #1 and #5 be like?
What a horrible idea for a crossover. I mean, there's totally a fic out there where Arthur goes to Hollywood and Ari is his agent, but none of the people in Robin Hood would be as amusing. Maybe Vince it's an Ocean's Eleven-type thing where the gang from RH are modern-day merry men stealing from Alan Grey? Like I said, not a lot of fun.

4. Who is your favorite ship from #1?
Vince/E is JUST TOO GREAT. I love that E is a good guy who can beat up guys twice his size and Vince would do anything for his friends and refuses to take too much from them. I love that they've been freinds their whole lives and even Turtle admits in a mushroom stupor that they really have something special. E makes Vince good, and he knows it.

5. If you were to set up one person from #3 and one person from #4 on a blind date, who would they be?
Jason and Gwen! I don't care how badly he fucks up, I will always love him, and I think Gwen could make him less stupid.

6. If you could meet one person from #2 and spend the day with them, who would it be and what would you do?
Laser tag with Barney! Basically the episode where Robin is Barney's bro for one night, only with me instead of Robin and I'd totally have sex with him because I'm that much of a whore.

7. If you could change one thing about #1's plotline, what would you change?
This is tough, because I really liked the fifth season, but I kind of wish Vince hadn't been so gung ho about Medellin. Because watching season three was so hard, knowing what a disaster they have in store for them. Also I'd take out any plot where Vince tries to date seriously, because I really don't think he has it in him and the girls he likes turn uber-annoying because apparently Vince is pretty enough to turn smart women stupid with just a smile.

8. Explain a relationship between two people (not necessarily romantic) from #5 and why you like the relationship between them.
I liked the Will and Alan dynamic a lot, because Will is such a good guy and Alan is so not trustworthy. I wish Will would come back from the Holy Land and we could watch him slowly start to trust Alan again, now that Robin does.

9. If the lead characters (first name in the credits) from #1 and #3 were both drowning, and you could only save one, who would it be?
I'm pretty sure Kevin Connolly's name comes first in Entourage, and I assume Anna Paquin's comes first on True Blood. It's a no-brainer, because even though I like Sookie (most of the time), E is like my height-inappropriate soul mate. Plus, I'm pretty sure Vince would fall apart without him, and I hate it when Vince is sad.

10. If you could change the title characters' order in the credits for #4, what would it be?
No? I have no idea what the credits even look like, because I fastforward through them when I watch OnDemand.

11. If you could add a new character, any kind of character, to the plotline for #1, who would it be and what would be his/her role?
I want E to have an older sister, and I want the neice he mentions in season three to be her adorable daughter. He'd be close to her because he's a good boy, and maybe she comes out to LA and tells him to get a better job so that he can become the Hollywood Power Man that he's totally capable of becoming.

12. What happens in your favorite episode of show #2?
Swarley is the one where Marshall tries to date Chloe, the girl from the coffee shop with crazy eyes who writes "Swarley" on Barney's cup. So everyone starts calling Barney "Swarley" and at the end of the episode everyone in McLaren's yells "Hey, Swarley!" and Carl plays the Cheers theme on a boom box. Meanwhile Marshall and Lily get back together and Chloe turns out to have really fucking crazy eyes.

13. If you could kill off one of the characters from #1, who would it be and how would you do it?
I wanted Alan to die in season five, but I got my wish. He's not really a character yet, but maybe Eric's dad dies of a heart attack and there's all this fallout where he goes kind of crazy and for once Vince and the boys have to take care of him?.

14. If you got the chance to visit the set for either #3 or #5, which show would you choose?
True Blood! So many men I want to meet.

15. If you could date anyone from these shows, which show and which person?
Marshall just seems like the best boyfriend in the history of couples.

James/Lily, Harry Potter (ok, more from shoebox_project, but I'll try to talk more about canon)

01. The episode/scene that made me love this pairing: In PoA, when Remus first talks about being friends with Harry's parents. I love high school sweetheart pairings that last. (It's one of my greater weaknesses.)

02. A song that reminds me of the pairing: something to talk about, badly drawn boy

03. My favorite episode/scene for the pairing: I realize that in the books they're only in like two scenes, but I still love the whole Snape's Penseive chapter in OotP. Another trope I love is lovers who hate each other before they love each other. It really pissed me off when they fucked with this scene in the movie, especially since it ends up being kind of important in DH.

04. What I love about the pairing: Here I have to delve a little into shoebox, where Lily is a much more developed character than she is in canon. In sb, she is smart and prim without being exactly like Hermione, whom I also love. She leaves angry notes ("you are all imbeciles") and dates Kingsley Shacklebolt. My all-time favorite James/Lily sb scene is at the funeral for James' parents, when he spills tea on his trousers and can't find his other pair and she goes back into the house to escape Slughorn's pomposity. Much as I love the books, a big part of me wishes they'd never had (or at least waited) Harry and lived happily ever after.

Rory/Jess, Gilmore Girls

01. I fell back at Luke and Laura/Sid and Nancy. They deliberately made a spark with these two, but I allowed myself to be manipulated.

02. femme fatale, velvet underground

03. Can't Get Started defines all that is wonderful and screwed up about this pairing. That kiss is still their best ever.

04. I love it when two people are obviously perfect for each other but they both aren't mature enough to actually be together. Once these two actually started dating it was horrible, as it should have been with both of them being as dumb as they were. Years down the road I imagine them meeting up some random way and having lots of hot well-adjusted sex.

Sally/Patrick, Coupling

01. Flushed had excellent S/P action, especially when she smiles at him just after Susan breaks up with him and says, "You're single now. You qualify for my elasticity.

02. brandy alexander, feist

03. This picture is from one of my all-time favorite scenes from Sex, Love and Death. That episode defines Sally as I see her, and this scene defines their relationship when he comes in and asks, "Do you want to be my date for Susan's new boyfriend's ex-girlfriend's aunt's funeral?"

04. I love that they're both so screwed up. Listening to Sally is like seeing all of my own insecurities spelled out infront of me, including my weakness for absolute assholes like Patrick. I love that they get on so well even though they're so different, and that even though she doesn't reform him he acts differently around her than he does around anyone else.

Lane/Dave, Gilmore Girls

01. The scene in Application Anxiety where they meet and fall into eternal musical love.

02. rock and roll suicide, david bowie

03. Deep Fried Korean Thanksgiving, with that first kiss and all the crazy plots to fool Mrs. Kim.

04. In the beginning they both liked each other but kept it on the down low. Then they started dating and he pretended to be Christian for her and they kept it a secret from their clueless bandmates. They are another pair that I imagine reuniting as jaded but intelligent adults.

Robin/Marian, Robin Hood

01. Speaking strictly about the BBC series, the scene at the end of Will You Tolerate this when he tries to kiss her and she blows him off because he went to The Holy Land for five years.

02. angels and angles, the decemberists

03. I don't remember the episode, but I loved the scene after Guy gave her the horse when Robin was like, "What did you promise him in return?" If the writers of this show weren't so prudish, there would have been a totally hot sex scene right after that exchange.

04. I liked them best in series one, before he told her that he loved her and they became like an old married couple that happened to live in two separate places and couldn't be seen together because the sherrif's lackey was in love with her. They slowly came to care for each other again, and he would watch from the perch outside her window whenever Guy made a play on her virtue. In every version of Robin Hood mythology I've seen or read before this, Marian hasn't kicked nearly as much ass. I love that they both want to do what's right but have different ways of doing so.

Television Commentary: Coupling, 1.1 (Part One)

Because I'm bored and enjoy reading long episode-related rants about my favorite shows, I decided to give full commentary a try for myself. I hope this will get everyone one my f-list who has yet to feel the Coupling love to at least watch an episode of the show. I don't think any of you would regret it. As for everyone who I know is already turned onto the magic, hopefully you'll enjoy this meta. Part one of the episode can be found on youtube here, part two can be found here, and part three can be found here. Watch and feel the greatness.

Flushed

Some background on this episode and why I love it so much. Yeah, it's the pilot, and it's very easy to write off anything unsavory in a television pilot by saying that the actors and writers hadn't yet "found their niche" or "realized what they were about." With Coupling, I feel like everyone just got it right off. The characters are who they are throughout the entire series. It's the nature of sitcom characters not to develope or change, and all of the actors on this show understood that, I think. When I watched the first episode I formed my opinions about every character, and I haven't changed my mind all that much during all the seasons since.

Which is all a complicated way of saying that, at least in the beginning, this show never took itself too seriously. It's a sitcom about sex, and they never apologize for it. So let's start the show, shall we?

The credits. I love this song. Vikki and I made up a dance to it. I listened to the original Doris Day version of "Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps" one time and it just wasn't the same. And I like that the names just come up, without showing any of the actors' faces. The colors are interesting, though I'm curious why they chose such a loud backgound.

So I won't lie. When I saw that boring interview with Steven Moffat on the Series One DVD, I found it kind of weird just how much of his life he puts into the show and the characters. I would hate watching a show about my life. It'd be boring (not as boring as that interview, but boring enough). And using his own name for the main character is just...creepy. Ish. His poor wife (who is one of the writers one the show) must do a lot of eye-rolling at the conference table.

The opening shot is of Jack Davenport. He's wearing a rather dodgy trench coat-thing and looking perturbed/angsty. A man runs after him as he walks down a street (presumably in London). This second man has even worse taste in clothes, if his red-and-white shirt is any indication. Letters come up at the bottom of the screen that read: 'flushed'. I must say, I wish all American shows showed the name of the episode at the beginning. And the font they use is fun.

So you're reall gonna do it? Dodgy Shirt says, shaking his fists and walking in step with JackDav. The later replies, Oh, yeah. This time.

We cut to...a shot of a church. Odd, that. But the camera pans down and we see two women walking down another street (also presumably in London). The dual-scene sequence we're about to see is the first of many of it's kind on Coupling. In most episodes (and in every good episode) there is at least one scene where the women are talking together in one place while the men are talking together in a different place. They are usually talking about the exact same thing, and the point is to show the two sides to whatever is happening to the characters (often it's Steve and Susan whose relationship is being dissected).

I love these scenes dearly. Of course, this particular scene isn't exactly like the others, but we'll get to that in a minute.

Maybe he's gonna propose, the red-headed woman suggests. The other woman, a blonde, laughs. Aha, we think--JackDav and this blonde woman must be an item. Little do we--save those who, like me, know these two don't get engaged until season three--know that that isn't quite the case.

Cut back to the boys. You think she knows you're gonna dump her?, enquires Dodgy Shirt, to which JackDav replies, She ought to by now. I've dumped her the last four times I've seen her. He slips into his rough, deep tones on that line, and I find him sexy in spite of his terrible taste in jackets.

So what goes wrong?, from D.S., and I'll just put quotes around the separate lines in the rest of this exchange. "We have sex." "You have sex?" "She makes me." "...How?" "She suggests it." And god, how much do I love how silly these boys are? And trust me, they only get sillier.

"She suggests it?" "Exactly." "...Evil."

Cut to the girls, who are talking about the likelihood of Mystery Man proposing to Blondie. Blondie makes some joke about swallowing that I miss because I'm waiting for JackDav and D.S. to come back on.

And we're back to them a second later! Obviously the writers themselves realized the more interesting half of the sequence lies with these silly boys.

"So the last time I dumped her, we had like fantastic, amazing, borderline illegal sex. Now she thinks we're back on." "That's ridiculous!" "I know! One swallow does not make her my girlfriend." And right from the first episode another part of the Coupling universe is established: the girls are so much smarter than the boys.

Red Head and Blondie have made it to the restaurant/bar/pub/whatever and are chatting. I like this exchange, since it establishes a lot about these two. I find myself liking Blondie in spite of her Jennifer Anistin-circa the first season of Friends hairdo. But the one I immediately click with is Red Head, who says, Remember. Every morning your face has slipped a little bit more. Since thirty I've had to put a daily limit on facial expressions. I only ever smile at single men so I can justify the loss of elasticity.

They make their way over to the couch while Blondie tries to make a case for the perks of aging. Red Head is having none of it. We learn that she is a beautician and that Blondie has a facial appointment coming up.

On the street outside of the whatever it is, JackDav and D.S. are talking about JackDav's girl issues. A Stocking Kink is introduced (another Coupling staple). Then D.S. says, But Steve, you're entitled to her stockings! and hallelujah am I happy I can stop writing JackDav every time I talk about him. His name is Steve.

"You're still in the Zone." "The what?" "The Boyfriend Zone. This is the tailing off period." They talk some more, and we learn that Jeff (whose name we also learn at some point--I lose track off what line) refers to signifigant others who won't be dumped as "unflushables". And honestly, I'm not amused or offended by that term. Jeff introduces about three unique vocabulary terms every episode, and this isn't one of the better ones.

Steve goes inside and sees Blondie. They kind of make eye contact, but then Blondie smiles and waves and calls, Hi, Patrick! And there's a guy behind Steve who says, Hi, Susan and goes to sit down on the couch. A woman walks up behind Steve and says, Hi, Steve in this voice that tells us she's definitely the unflushable. Jane, Steve says, and we're finally up to speed.

But just incase, some more fun titles come up, reading: Steve and Jane. Jane and Steve are at a private table, and Jane is telling a repetitive story about her sister and an argument or something and we're all feeling Steve's pane. But yeah--I even like Jane, because it's clear from all Steve has told us that she's crazy and manipulative and I can't wait to see how this thing ends.

So Steve tries to break up with Jane yet again and she completely blows him off. And ok, so this kind of thing would be very stalker-eque in real life, but a part of me is rooting for Jane just because she refuses to let reality interfere with her happiness.

The titles read: Susan and Patrick. Before we go in to this scene, I'll let those of you ho aren't already aware know that I am a hardcore shipper for Sally and Patrick. And I love, love love that the scene that's supposedly Susan and Patrick starts with Sally and Patrick arguing about some woman named Mary Kelly who we'll never get to meet. But of course Susan has to butt in, and Sally gets up to leave. As she goes, they hav one last exchange, "Mary Kelly thinks your a complete idiot." "Oh, really? Then why does she keep looking at my ass when we're talking?" "She's lip reading." I can't help wondering about this Mary Kelly. She's obviously admirable if she knows Patrick is an idiot. Because much as I love him, there's not much going on up there, you feel me?

It turns out that Patrick invited Susan out so that he could dump her. His plans of "letting her down gently" are foiled when Susan wonders what exactly he thinks is between them aside from sex.

Meanwhile, Steve is rubbing his temples. He tries reverse psycology, but to no avail. Jane refuses to flush or be flushed.

Patrcik is appaled that Susan didn't think they were in a real relationship. She says, It's not as if we were being faithful or anything. Side note: Susan uses the term "faithful" a lot. It's annoying only because I hate the euphemnistic (or however it's spelled) aspect of it. But anyway, Patrcik gives her this look and she's all, Oops.

Back at the private table, things are just getting worse and worse for Steve. "Please let me out. Please!" "Look. Why don't we give it...a year?" "Because if we give it a year I will end up horribly murdering you and hacking up your body." What I love about Jane in this scene is how rational she seems to think she's being. She doesn't come off as stupid, just unhinged.

Cut to Susan and Patrick. He's acting rather crushed that he wasted his "faithfullness" on a non-relationship. Then back to Steve telling Jane there are some relationship the world is better off without. He picks up a knife and says, "Remember Crippin?" "Oh, bring up Crippin again." Jane kind of rolls her eyes and damn, I don't even know who Crippin is and I can tell it's the kind of story you don't bring up in conversation with your signifigant other enough to warrant the "again".

"He killed her and was hanged for her murder." "Well, yes. eventually." And Steve covers his eyes like he's got a migrane and I collapse from the silliness.

Patrick breaks doan and tells Susan that he's been seeing someone else. Her lips come together and she's like, You've been cheating on me? and I love the rampant irrationality of the girls and silliness of the boys.

And so concludes part one. I'll finish when I'm in the mood, maybe, but this gets tiring after a while.

Hope that's cool.

1. There are six men whose purpose in life is to make people laugh, one of whom died from a disease that was not AIDS.

2. It's the typical family drama, complete with a former tenis star in love his sister and a reticent Indian butler.

3. Life is tough when you're the savior of mankind--even more so when all you really want to do is play exploding snap.

4. There are four men this time, and they laughed in 1962 under the dim lights of a German bar.

5. There's this narcotic addict who also happens to be a doctor, and no matter who he ends up with he'll still be a badass with sexy stubble and a big stick.

6. Most of the interesting parts happen in a small town where a woman lives with her daughter, drinking coffee and falling for the wrong guys over and over, until she gets it right (and before she fucks it up).

7. It's another small town, but the quirky neighbors are nothing compared to the lingering affects of a teenage boy's death on the conscience of a world-renowned surgeon.

8. At a boys prep school in New England a brilliant boy is affected deeply by reading Thoreau and commits suicide.

9. There's this woman obsessed with her appearance and this man obsessed with sex who woes her by making his best friends dance to the Spiderman themesong.

10. <lj:music>When She Loved Me - Sarah MacLaclan</lj:music>

Meme courtesy of falseeeyelashes

List your six favorite shows:

House
Coupling
Everwood
Gilmore Girls
The West Wing
Arrested Development

(I'll warn you that I was never a faithful viewer of the last two. I don't watch television much, I guess.)

1. Who is your favorite character from #2?
Jeff. The show isn't the same without him, man. He says so many things that make me say, "Yes! That's exactly what it's like!" The terms he's introduced have infiltrated every conversation I've had with Vikki since we started watching.

2. Who is your least favorite character from #4?
Logan. I liked him before he hooked up with Rory, but the two of them together? Yeah, it doesn't work for me. At the same time, I'm glad he's on because I love all the characters he's brought with him. (I want Finn. Just...gah.)

3. What would a crossover between #1 and #5 include?
Oh. My. God. I would pay someone to write a crossover of House and TWW. (Ok not really, but only cuz I'm poor.) It would have to include some manner of interaction between Josh and House (God, I'm hyperventilating just thinking about it). Maybe some messed up (but incredibly hot) Wilson/Donna or Sam/Cuddy sex?

Have there been any x-overs of these two? If any knows, by all means, point me in the right direction.

4. Who is your favorite ship from #6?
Erm...Buster/that woman Liza Minelli played made for some pretty entertaining stuff.

5. If you were to set one person from #3 and one person from #6 on a blind date, who would they be?
Andy Brown and Lindsey because dr. Brown sleeping with crazy women from Ally McBeal makes me happy.

6. If you could meet one person from #4 and spend the day with them, who would it be, and what would you do?
I would love to hang out with Dave. We could go to record stores and talk about how to get him back on the show and Zack into the background where he belongs.

7. If you could change one thing about #2's plotline, what would you change?
I hate pregnancies on shows, so I'd have axed Susan's positive tesy result. Just...no. The show only works if none of them have kids.

8. Explain a relationship between two people (not necessarily romantic) from show #5, and why you like the relationship between them.
Josh and Sam make me happy. That mostly comes down to how much I love the two characters on their own--the snappy comebacks and arrogant intellegence--and putting them in the same room is complete gold.

9. If the lead title characters (first name in the credits) from #1 and #3 were both drowning, and you could only save one, who would it be?
I'd save House in a heartbeat. Sorry Andy.

(The leads in one and three are both docters. Weird.)

10. If you could change the title characters' order in the credits for #4, what order would you choose?
I think Richard and Emily (Edward Herman and Kelly what's-her-face) should come right after Alexis and Lauren. I know they're not in every episode, but they don't have to be--they're both so lovely and fucked up. (I'd also put Milo Ventimiglia back in, but that's probabl;y not gonna happen).

11. If you were able to add a new character, any kind of character you wanted, to the storyline for #6, what would the character be like and what would their role be?
I wanted the family matriarch to have her own action on the side. I wouldn't care what he was like as long as she could get back at her cheating, enprisoned husband.

12. What happens in your favorite episode of show #2?
Susan finds a porno video called "Lesbian Spank Inferno" in Steve's apartment. For some reason, Susan decides to throw a dinner party, and Jane invites her female therapist, telling everyone that it's he girlfriend. Hillarity ensues, ending with a run-down of LSI's plot, then a diatribe form Steve about why men watch porn.

It's a classic. If you watch one episode of the show, choose either "Inferno" or "Love, Sex and Death".

13. If you could kill off one of the characters of #1, who would it be and how would you do it?
This is tough. I love each of the charcters, in my own way. But Cam is my least fav, so I guess I'd kill her off with some crazy disease and have Chase be all heartbroken for a while. And House would feel responsible for her death and in his agony turn to Cuddy for hot sex.

14. If you got the chance to visit the set for either show #3 or show #5, which would you choose?
Five. Man, how sweet would that be?

15. So, I saved the best question for last. If you could date anyone from any of these shows, which show and which person?
When it comes to dating with the potential for a relationship, I'd choose Sam.

That was fun! Anyone who cares about my entertainment--do this! I want to read them!

<lj:music>Where I End and you Begin.(The Sky is Falling In.)</lj:music>

So today out of (almost) nowhere I started thinking about that scene in When Harry Met Sally.

I know things are getting bad when I start making completely pointless entries.

So ok, I'm thinking about starting another fic. I've had an idea since about the time I started Oh! You Pretty Things but I'm kinda having trouble with...what charcters to use. Hell, I'm not even sure which fandom to use.

Oh, yes. I am amazing.

It's not even a story idea that I've been developing. It's more a character study, only not since I hate character studies. I realize most of my stories focus more on character connections than actual plot. While it's not a bad thing, I want to try writing a fic where something happens other than personal discovery. But it sucks because all of the plots I've ever come up with have required long drawn-out stories.

Meanwhile, I'm trying to take Snow Cone seriously and develope my writing. I'm going to try reconciling what I learn from him with what I've learned from Matt. (Speaking of which, when the hell is Matt coming back? I like John and all, but I've learned so much more from Matt. You agree, Vikki?) I thought it was very amusing how his explanation of how not to write comparative essays is pretty much exactly how I wrote about the articles over the summer.

The 17-year-old has to go. Seriously-why is she even getting a story line? Unless she dies in the next episode there's no reason to give her so much screen time.

Hello, my name is Adria. And I am a House-aholic.

If there's one thing I don't need, it's another fandom. Or, more acurately, another pairing to read obsessively. But I simply can't help myself. House/Wilson has hooked me.

I really need to stop reading fanfic. Like, seriously. Who knows how much of my life I've already lost to stuff that didn't actually happen in my favorite books/movies or on my favorite shows?

The thing is, House is one show where I just don't give a shit what happens pairing-wise. I find House/Cameron lame, House/Cuddy slightly interesting, and Chase/Cameron rather delicious, but I don't feel invested. Which is probably a good thing, given how insane the Rory/Jess thing still has me even though Jess isn't on the show anymore and Rory is the bride of Satan. I like House because of the characters in and of themselves, not based of who they're fucking. Plus Greg House is the most amazing character this side of Former-Commodore Norrington. God, I love Hugh Laurie. Throw him into the gazillion-way tie for my favorite actor.

It seems that in every slash pairing I get into there is one member I want to have sex with and one character I would want to be best friends with. Like Jack and James? Not that into Jack, to be honest, but there's just something about James...It's the same way with House over (haha) Wilson and Remus over Sirius. Or Gray over Jonesy. Or George over Paul.

Anyway, you get the point. I just thought that was interesting.

In other news, I still haven't finished part two of my turrowton thing. partly because I've never read much Will/James and, AU as my story may be, I want to find a realistic way for Will to seduce James. I'm not worried, I just haven't been able to give it the time it deserves.

Oh! You Pretty Things, Part Two

Part Two: I'm Only Sleeping (Will/James)

Please don't wake me
No don't shake me
Leave me where I am
I'm only sleeping

***

James had always appreciated the value of staying quiet. He knew that blows, indignities, and tears could all be avoided if he kept his mouth shut. Since early childhood he'd heeded his mother's advice: "Keep your opinions to yourself," she'd told him, "Until speaking up is absolutely necessary.

There had always been something about Jack that bit at James' better nature and forced him to do things he knew to be unwise. It could be quite a bit of fun, on occasion, to act on his more basic instincts. Most often it got him into trouble, but no real damage had ever been done. That was, until the night he'd gone one step too far.

"After we graduate we should all go off and live somewhere. Some island where it's just us."

That had started it. As usual, Jack had foiled any attempts James might have made to stay sane.

"Would we change our names?" he's asked Jack, "Or maybe we wouldn't have names. Just...a certain call on the conch could represent each of us?"

Jack had smiled, "You read too much, Jamie. I've always said so."

There was nothing extraordinary about the moment. It was like a thousand others they'd shared. The two of them often had those late-night sorts of talks--all deep, musing tones and narrowed eyes. There was something about Jack that took away his inner filter. He knew he could say anything without repercussions.

They ended up kissing, slow at first as James stretched out over Jack's lap, then fast once they both realized what was happening. It was strange yet familiar--James had never even considered kissing Jack before that moment, but as he did he kept wondering why the idea had never hit.

It didn't come naturally but it didn't feel awkward. So many things occurred to James all at once that he had to pull away and think.

And of course once his lips were no longer on Jack's reality hit.

"You kissed me," was all he could say.

Jack shook his head defensively, "You kissed me."

James knew that. He didn't know why he was claiming innocence when he was so clearly at fault. He only knew he had to get away and think as fast as he could.

"That was...," he made an attempt at parting words, wishing in vain that Jack would disappear beneath the floor so he could think, "I don't like you." was what finally came out.

It was the exact wrong thing to say. Not only was it possibly untrue, it was misleading. James could tell from Jack's skeptical expression that his friend was aware of both these things.

"I mean," he tried again, rolling his eyes at his own foolishness, "I like Lizzie."

If what he'd said before had angered Jack, this turned Jack into Mr.Hyde. His brows drew together, his fists were clenched, and that vein on his forearm that Will had nearly punctured while they were playing football the previous Spring was protruding rather fiercely.

James leaned back slightly.

"All right, then." Jack's voice had been venomous, "You like Lizzie. And I'm going to seduce Will. So we're both getting what we want."

That had emphatically ended the conversation. Jack had jumped up a moment later and exited James' room. James was left with an entirely bigger set of problems to think over.

***

James thought of Will in black and white.

The picture he kept in his mind was a black and white photo of Will the day Ana fell into the lake. It had been A Separate Peace revisited; Ana challenging Lizzie to climb the tallest tree on the grounds, Liz jumping at the bait only to have Ana slip off the branch, thankfully into the water. James remembered all of it, including the way he'd sighed in relief when it wasn't Lizzie who had fallen.

He'd never told anyone that, just as he'd never told anyone about finding Will and Jack later that afternoon, Jack with his head bowed down and Will with one hand on his friend's back. That was the image of Will James kept with him always, only appearing in shades of gray with the wish that he'd actually had a camera with him.

***

Two months to the day after he'd kissed Jack, James saw his two best friends snogging around the east end campus.

He tried putting a name to what he felt then. It wasn't jealousy and it wasn't disgust. That was the extent to which he narrowed down the possibilities. After that, he just watched.

It wasn't strictly voyeuristic given that they were snogging in broad daylight with dozens of students just around the corner. Anyone could have walked by and seen them.

(No one walked by, and James knew that with his luck he was the only person who'd ever caught the two of them.)

He'd been walking back to St. Jude's when he spotted Jack coming from the opposite direction (from his Art class, though of course James would never admit to knowing that). James had hung back, weary still of coming face to face with Jack without the others to distract him form the suggestive looks and raised eyebrows. But it hadn't mattered, because Jack didn't notice him. The boy had walked with long, confident strides across the late-January snow, a smile breaking out as he rounded the corner of the building, out of sight from everyone save James, who instinctively darted behind a tree, and Will, who had apparently been waiting patiently.

He'd seen boys kiss other boys before. He's seen Jack kiss other boys before. The wild card was Will, and what a wild card he was. James didn't take note of the mechanics of the actual kiss, but the way Jack shoved Will against the building told James what was coming.

The kiss itself hadn't been shocking. Just like kissing Jack had made sense at the time, Jack and Will fit as their lips came together. What shocked James was his own curiosity. Immediately, he mentally sorted through how this could have come to pass. How long have they been doing this? was the first question. More importantly, he wondered if it was before or after that night two months before. The answer to that question mattered greatly just then.

Another reason to hate Jack. James was certain he wouldn't have thought twice about this public display of affection if it weren't for Jack's influence over him. Watching two boys snog just wasn't something the pre-Jack James would have wasted his time with. (Never mind that the pre-Jack James had only reached the age of eleven.)

***

Later that night, James studied with Ana and Lizzie in the common room. Their World Literature test was the next morning, and when the girls had appealed to him for study company he couldn't think of a reason not to help them out.

The nice thing about their group, he reflected as Lizzie described her latest semi-date with that prat Beckett, was that the seven of them worked best alone but preferred to work in pairs. Not couples, but pairs. There was Liz and Ana, who were each one-half of what James felt the ideal girl for him would be. There was Jack and Will, who only over-lapped when snogging each others' brains out. And there was Andy and Teddy, neither of whom looked right without the other at his side.

Then there was James, who could be paired with any of them easily. It was nice to know he'd always fit in with these people.

James half-listened to Lizzie but watched her face closely. He could read her emotions more easily by looking than by processing the words. And when Ana chimed in with a light-hearted dig at Beckett's height, James gaged all of her thoughts as well.

He knew them both so well. Too well, Jack had once joked, his tone just suggestive enough for James to glare in return. It was nearly the truth, though; he knew both girls so well that paying any more attention to them would have been boring.

The problem, he'd decided, was that he didn't love either girl the way he'd have liked. Complete, settled love had alluded him in the face of first Ana and now Lizzie. Though he cared for them-- would gladly sit through rambling conversations about hair or make-up or Beckett to keep them happy--his love came in halves. Everything he now gave Lizzie was just the left-overs from what he gave Ana.

A lot of confusion and pain could have been avoided if James had figured that out before everything with Ana happened. But though James was good at staying quiet, that talent has always battled his tendency to choose the path of least resistance.

"You're not even listening."

James blinked. He was looking right at Ana, but he wasn't absolutely sure she was the one who'd spoken. To be safe, he glanced innocently at Lizzie.

Ana cleared her throat, "I'm the one who said that."

"What makes you think I wasn't listening?" he inquired. His first defense in these situations was an accusing arrogance that always pissed Ana off.

"You were staring at my mouth." she informed him, "Either you want to kiss me or you're reading my moods. I'm trying to be optimistic."

"Ouch," he replied. It was for show, though he wouldn't have minded kissing Ana again. The first time, just after he'd confessed his crush on her, had been pleasant, physically speaking. Emotionally it had been completely wrong--which was why he definitely didn't want to kiss her.

Lizzie was smiling at him.

"I have to get going." she said, in such a way that he knew she must have already said so a few times, "Get some sleep, all right? You look a bit peaked."

James rolled his eyes, "Take me now, sailor."

She gave no further comment, though her eyes did meet Ana's briefly before she left. Either Liz had heard, through the grapevine, about his confession to Jack, or she thought James still had eyes for Ana. Neither possibility soothed him.

(Now that he thought of it, all of his problems seemed to stem from confessing crushes. He made a mental note to think carefully before ever telling anyone anything again.)

Because she could read him just as well as he could read her, Ana looked away from James with a smile, "For someone who can go three weeks without speaking you say a lot of stupid things."

Something in her smile brought his guard down completely. He shrugged as the weight slipped off.

"Ana."

Ana batted her eyelashes teasingly, "Jamie?"

Until he said the words James wasn't sure what will come out.

"You remember when you fell out of the tree and into the lake?"

"I didn't fall." she disagreed, "I jumped."

He didn't want to argue, "I'll take that as a yes. I was thinking about that day."

Her head is still, a sign that he has he undivided attention.

"You remember how I visited you in the infirmary every day? You remember the flowers I brought."

"I remember you acting like a complete prat, yes."

He didn't smile.

"It was guilt."

He didn't elaborate. It didn't matter where the guilt had come from--he just needed her to know that it had been there.

Ana's stare was faintly appraising. There was a beat, a switch in mood falling over her before she nodded.

"I know it was."

***

That, James thought as he walked up to the dorm, was why he loved Ana.

"You've never had much luck with it." she'd told him. He wasn't sure how they'd arrived at The Past, but he couldn't say he minded finally talking with her about it.

He'd even smiled at her, "Why do you think that is?"

"It's obvious, really." she'd shrugged, "You don't want to work at that kind of thing, so the second you see the easiest future possible you jump."

"Or I fall."

"No. You jump." Ana repeated. Her head rested against the arm of the couch. She regarded James with a dreamy expression only he ever got to see. "That's why you kissed me. It's why you told Jack you like Lizzie."

Hearing first-hand about Jack's betrayal of confidence only made James smile more. It was funny how little he minded Jack's faults when the guy wasn't in the room.

"Jack didn't tell me that." Ana informed him, once again anticipating his remarks, "Will did. And he told me to tell you that Jack told him."

"Since when do we actually act this much like school kids?"

Ana grinned, "Since you and Jack started having it out like school kids."

He'd deserved that, so he smirked self-deprecatingly.

"By the way," Ana had slowly gotten to her feet, "There was another message from Will."

"Hm?" James stood up as well.

She had been gathering her books, pointedly not looking at his face, "He said that until ten he's going to be in our Lit classroom."

James was intrigued despite his better judgment, "Did he?"

"He also might have said he'd be alone. And that he was certain no one would disturb him unless he wanted them to."

He didn't even have to look at Ana. This half-code was common between all of them. James knew what the message meant. He also knew, with out having to think about it, that he'd be meeting Will in the classroom as soon as Ana went up to her dorm.

After she'd given him a proper digestive period, Ana met his eyes.

"Don't confess anything while you're there, eh?" her smile held a twinge of worry under her light tone, "Though...I highly doubt you'd be tempted to."

It was impossible for James not to love a girl who knew exactly how to play him. He admired the technique above all else.

He turned the door knob of Will's designated hide-out knowing that both his crush on Ana and his crush on Lizzie had reached closure.

***

"So I've been thinking," were the first words out of Will's mouth.

James stood just inside the World Literature classroom, one eyebrow cocked. After the day he'd had, he was up for any of Will's refreshingly stupid ideas.

In an instant, Will's expression changed from contemplative to content and he smiled, "Jack's worried about you."

"I fail to see why you'd think much about that." James replied. He was too tired--and as a result in too truthful a mood--to pretend spite at Jack's name.

What attracted James to Will was his ability to leap into any situation with a clear plan of action. Often Will didn't think too far ahead, but he always acted first. Most of the times this caused very amusing problems for the boy, but Will never became disheartened. It was one of those things James could appreciate only because he had none of it in himself.

As they stood together amid the vandalized desks Will appeared more relaxed, more soothed than James usually got to see him. It made the moment much more intimate, which assured James that something in their relationship was about to change.

"I want to do something," Will told him, "But I should say something first."

"Yeah?" James stood stiffly, braced for whatever was coming to him.

"I'm not ordering you around," Will began, "i just think that...for everyone's sake...you and Jack need to stop fighting."

James blinked. Then stared, and blinked again for good measure. When Will's expression remained focused and stern, James laughed.

"What?" Will demanded.

He couldn't bring himself to explain. Instead, he shook his head at Will and grinned.

"I promise not to...intentionally provoke Jack into trying to beat the shit out of me." James said, "Is that good enough?"

His friend shrugged--really, what else could he have done?, "All right," Will agreed, "Now I can do this in full conscience."

There were a lot of things about Will that James would probably never understand. why he kissed him that night was one of them.

What James did understand was that he had kissed Will back. Without guilt, and with the faint taste of loss that he told himself was about Ana and Lizzie.

***

Please don't spoil my day
I'm miles away
And after all
I'm only sleeping

Will be a four-part...thing. Will also eventually be Turrowton. The song at the beginning and end is "Soul Love" by David Bowie. The title of the whole series is also a Bowie song. Feedback is very much apreciated.

Part One: Soul Love (Jack/Will)

Love is careless in its choosing - sweeping over cross a baby
Love descends on those defenseless
Idiot love will spark the fusion

***

St. Jude's was the only house at Paquin whose members acted like a family. All five houses were well-united, but only St. Jude had as much dysfunction and fighting as a true family had.

They had the annoying distant relatives whom Will always hoped wouldn't show up at Christmas. Geoff Barbossa, the school Captain, was a huge asshole, but Will would have defended him to the death simply because he hailed from St. Jude's. Even Beckett, the shit that had been made a Prefect for Year Ten, didn't get pushed around when there was another St. Jude's boy in sight. Will loved them all in a complicated sort of way, even the girls. If his parents had to send him to boarding school, he could have done much worse than Paquin.

In Year Eleven things were going good for Will, academically speaking. He wasn't into books the way James was, but he'd always been good with his hands. Because of this he thought ship-building would be the trade for him. The only subject he did well in without trying was maths, and that took care of the engineering side. For the first time, he was sure that things would be all right outside of Paquin.

Will loved St. Jude's house. He liked that all its members were frosty to outsiders, he liked that they weren't the smartest house or the best at sport, yet they always won the house championships in academics and football. He even liked that the real name of the house wasn't St. Jude's at all, but just Jude House. St. Jude's was a nickname made up years before Will's time.

"All the houses are named after Nathaniel Paquin's sons," Lizzie had told them years before. "Julius, Michael, Augustus, Brandon and Jude. When Jude was going to school here he hung himself in his room up in the dorm. That's when everyone started calling it St. Jude's."

"That's morbid," Teddy had replied with a shudder.

"You talk too much," Jack had informed Liz, who lofted her nose in the air.

The school had only gone co-ed a year before Will started there. Boys still out-numbered girls two-to-one, but there were no big issues between the sexes in St. Jude's. Will didn't like to be alone with any of them aside from Anamaria--they tended to get too close for his comfort, often speaking in euphemisms he didn't want to understand. Lizzie was all right, but she was really James' friend.

He'd lived in the same dorm room with Jack, Teddy and Andy since he'd started school. James had been in with them as well until he was made a Prefect. Or, as Jack put it, "Until he went Narc." The four of them knew Will better than his own parents.

***

"So then she says to me, 'Would you like to take a turn about the room, Mr. Smith?'," Jack told them, imitating Lizzie's voice almost perfectly. "Seriously--I think the poor girl's on drugs. I told you we should've stopped her from going to the dance with Beckett."

James sighed, "She was joking, you idiot."

Jack looked puzzled by this, his brows drawing together, "Well I didn't think it was very funny. Her sense of humor must be worse than yours."

"It's from a book." Teddy said helpfully, "Pride and Prejudice."

Jack rolled his eyes, "Oh, not that again! She's known me for about seven thousand years. What in our history together would make her think I've read that book?"

"But you have heard of it?" Will couldn't resist teasing his friend.

Jack gestured to James, who was reading on the other side of the room, "This one has it. I picked it up one night when he was busy reading."

"What made you read it?" Andy inquired.

Jack examined his nails, "Annoying him while he was trying to read got boring."

James looked up suddenly, glaring at Jack, "You do realize you have your own room wherein you could be discussing these things."

Jack grinned, "But your room's so much nicer."

Will smiled himself as he looked around James' Prefect-issued room. It was smaller than their quad, naturally, but it had a nice view of the football fields and the lake beyond. James sat at the window, his neglected book resting on the ledge. Teddy and Andy were on the bed, pens and paper in hand as they attempted to write their Chemistry reports. Jack sat directly in front of Will on James' desk, back against the wall as if he were the most comfortable he'd ever been in his life.

"Since when is Liz dating Beckett?" Andy demanded. Will gave him a grateful look, hoping the change of subject would head off a Jack/James battle.

"She's not dating him." Teddy replied, speaking more loudly than was necessary, "They just went to the Halloween dance together."

Andy seemed to think this over for a minute, staring at the carpet in a squint. Nearly a minute passed before he looked up and burst out, "But she's too tall for him!"

"I think that of the many things wrong with the situation, that should be the least of our worries." James remarked.

Will was relieved. Lately, it seemed that every conversation between Jack and James ended in a fight. Not just verbal spats, but physical, to-the-death boxing matches that had already given each boy several black eyes and many bruises. It was a great acheivement whenever one such fight was aborted.

There had always been some friction between Jack and James. In their first year at Paquin the pair had hated each other. Will and the others had felt like double spies, only able to talk to James when Jack wasn't around and vice versa. Will couldn't remember just what had started their friendship, but now there was no doubt in his mind that Jack and James loved each other.

Usually, the pair only fought verbally. There had been incidents where punches were thrown and lips were split (James only ever lost his temper around Jack), but nothing that had lasted so long. Truthfully, Will had always enjoyed listening to Jack and James squabble. They were both smart, and a small fraction of the time Will hadn't been able to understand the insults between them. But there had been affection in that kind of fighting. Now, they fought as if they truly hated each other.

"Yes." Jack was smirking, "I suppose you of all people would see several things that are wrong with the situation."

Will inwardly sighed. James did not look happy.

"If you have something to say to me, Sparrow," James spat out the old nick name like it was a slur, "just say it."

Jack looked up innocently, "That's precisely what I was trying to do. I veiled the attack so as not to frighten the children."

Will bristled indignantly. He got the feeling he was one of the "children" whom Jack was refering to.

"Why do you keep bringing this up?" James demanded, slowly standing. His gaze was focused on jack, as if the other three weren't even there, "It's none of your damn business anyway. Just let it fucking go and we can all get on with our lives."

"Oh, it's just so easy, isn't it, Jamie?" Jack said, standing as well. As was the usual when Jack was getting ready for a fight, he had a small smile on his face, "Just keep pretending-"

"Fuck off, Jack." James cut him off, walking toward the door.

Will looked toward the bed. Teddy and Andy looked as confused and anxious as he felt.

Jack gave a huff of laughter, "I would if I could."

It happened very fast. James was on Jack before Will, Teddy or Andy could even move. James was pummeling Jack with all he had, and it took Jack a moment to push him off. The dull sounds of fists hitting flesh hit Will's ears and he was finally able to move.

"I hate you." James spat at Jack as Teddy took hold of his arms.

"I hate you right back, you wanker." Jack replied, shoving out of Will's hold. "It's fine. I was just leaving anyway."

Will's eyes met Jack's for a second. Though the look gave nothing away, Will felt calmed by it. He watched Jack leave a second later.

James had struggled free of Teddy, and he slapped off Andy's hold on his shoulders. He didn't look at any of them.

"I'll go talk to him." Teddy volunteered, "I'm sure he's just-"

"A weak, spineless prick?" James offered, going back to the window.

Will and Andy exchanged a glance as Teddy left the room. Without words, Andy's eyes said, I think at least one of us should stay. Will quirked his brow in response, Suicide watch? the look joked.

"See you later, James." Will said quietly.

There was no response from James as the door softly shut, depositing Will outside. Alone.

***

It was the worst Saturday Will could remember. Normally, their days off from classes would be spent outside, either relaxing by the Lake in the Spring or bundled close together under a tree in Winter. Moments like that had brought Will more happiness than he's realized at the time. He was, it appeared, only happy when Jack and James were talking.

He knew from past experience that talking to Jack first was the safest bet. James, in all likelihood, wouldn't talk to anyone for the next few days. If all else failed, Will would be able to talk about music or movies or something completely irrelevant with Jack, even if the fight was off-limits.

With this in mine, Will headed back to their dorm after eating super alone in the dining hall.He didn't knock before entering, and he wasn't surprised that Jack was the only one in the room.

"You anorexic now?" Will asked lightly, sitting at the foot of Jack's bed.

Jack didn't reply. He was laying back on his pillows, eyes trained to the ceiling.

"Wanting to kill your best friend in a fit of temporary rage is all well and good, Jack." Will ventured, watching for signs of a brewing storm, "Going for his balls was just psychotic."

"He started it." Jack bit back.

Will smiled slightly, "I know. But I'm sure you deserved it."

Jack sat up suddenly, tilting his head to the side and assessing Will, "And why is that, exactly?"

"What do you mean?"

"No one would ever suspect that Jamie Norrington, Prefect of the Ages, would provoke me, would they?"

"Probably not." Will admited.

"Because it would be completely out of character," Jack added, his expression growing more and more tense, "James has never acted in any way dishonorably toward anyone."

Will frowned, "Jack-"

Jack leapt off his bed, "Let's get pissed."

***

Nothing good ever came out of Jack "Sparrow" Smith suggesting such a thing. Mostly because Will could never refuse.

"Agh, James," Jack lamented, sprawling out across the sofa in the Common Room, "He's such an...arse sometimes."

"All the time." Will encouraged, only a little less drunk than Jack, "But the question is...what'd the arse to this time?"

"What didn't he do, more like." Jack scoffed. "Stupid bloody pillock."

Will watched Jack from his own seat in an overstuffed armchair. It was nearly midnight, and the two of them had spent the past four or five hours drinking rum out by the lake. Jack hadn't said much about the fight until now.

Jack was trying to sit up. He looked at Will with a comically serious expression, "It's like this, William...there's friends, and then there's James." Jack shrugged, "You know what I mean by that?"

Will shook his head, "No bloody idea."

They both laughed a confued, drunken sort of giggle. Jack slid into a full sitting position, his upper body over the arm rest of the sofa.

"Some people shouldn't dissapoint you. And James is some people."

Because he now understood, Will nodded.

"I mean," Jack snorted, "I expect you to fuck things up. It's what you've always done. You do it well. Nobody fucks things up better than you do."

"Thank you for that."

"You're welcome." Jack grinned, "But James...he's not allowed to do stupid things."

Will thought back through all the years he'd known James. Any sort of betrayal would be catastrophic coming from James, who was always so good. Now, he could see where Jack was coming from.

"And Elizabeth," Jack made a dismissive sound, "Stupid tart. James fancies himself in love with her, you know."

That did surprise Will, "Really? That's why you're angry with him?"

Jack shrugged, "Not really. I've known for a few months. Mostly I though he'd lost his mind, but I expected him to get better. It wasn't until he kissed me that I got fed up with all of it."

"Well maybe..."

Will trailed off, feeling like he'd missed something, "Wait...what?"

Jack looked at him quizzically, "What?"

He leaned forward, a sensation like falling taking over his body, "James...he kissed you?"

"Oh, yeah," Jack nodded, "A few weeks ago. It was a good one, too, till he jumped back and started all this shit about not liking me that way, you know."

"No," Will was sinking to the floor now, "I don't know."

Jack was oblivious to Will's sudden emptiness. When nothing came along to pick him up off the floor, Will could only take another gulp from their last bottle of rum.

"Will?"

And suddenly, Jack was there. He pushed Will back into the armchair and squeezed in beside him. His eyes seemed so much darker than Will remembered them being, and it only reminded him of how green James' were in comparison.

"You all right?"

It took all the energy he had just to shake his head, back and forth three times.

"Oh, Will," Jack sighed, "I'm sorry. We should go to bed, then."

"No!"

Jack looked surprised, "No?"

Will wasn't sure what had made him say it. He just knew he wasn't ready to leave the Common Room and have this momment join the past.

But Jack was smiling, so maybe he understood.

"You know, I'm not even the most upset about the Liz thing." Jack said quietly--as quietly as he ever spoke while intoxicated.

"You aren't?"

Jack shook his head, his expression turning more young and happy, "I'm more upset about you."

"Me?" it was the last thing Will had been expecting.

"Yeah." Jack had his elbow on the arm rest that Will was backed into, and he put his chin up in his hand, "Our first year, he stole you away from me."

Will frowned, "He did?"

"You were my best friend, and we both hated him." Jack remined him, "Then over Christmas I went home and you both stayed at school. When I came back, you'd decided maybe he wasn't so bad after all."

"But..." Will couldn't for the life of him remember any of it, "You like James. We both do. He's...he's our friend."

The words were so lame. The term "friend" didn't encompass everything James was to Will and Jack. He was just...James.

"Of course we do." Jack agreed gently, "Of course he is. But he still stole you from me. And I don't think I've ever forgiven him."

Will was aware of two things. The first was how warm Jack was, pressing his body into the arm of the chair. The second was that no matter what, he never wanted to forget what this felt like.

Because that was the problem with knowing people so long. You forgot so many things, and Will had never had the best memory to begin with.

When Jack's lips touched his, it was decided. There was no way Will was ever going to let himself forget this.

***

Inspirations have I none - just to touch the flaming dove
All I have is my love of love - and love is not loving

What does OTP even stand for?

Why isn't there fanfic on pnp? They have, like, really hardcore RPGs, but no fanfic. Maybe I should write one. Maybe I should post The Turrowton Opus (working title) there and watch the pandemonium commence. Maybe it'll even get me kicked out of the forum in a blaze of flames. *crosses fingers*

The fic I wanted to win at the_kennel's latest challenge won! There were some lovely ones, though. I just loved the idea of Remus as the Gryffinwhore. And Sirius' loyalty makes it fitting that he would be the one pining. Kind of makes me wish I could write HP fic. Or...any fic, really. *wallows in self pity*

But I digress. I am attempting to write some POTC fic at the momment. AU, since I really can't deal with researching the Caribbean and nautical terms and such. So I just thought why not have the gang...go to boarding school? True, my knowledge of Boarding Schools is also very limited, but...what the hell. I wanna.

It'll be some-what Turrowton (see working title) since I just joined the new comm and i figure I should contribute something. So far I'm thinking a series would be best, showing the progression of the relationships between the three of them. And (since it's me) I'll definitely have some Teddy, Andy, and Barbie on the side. Maybe even some Lord "Mr. Collins" Beckett.

I alreadt did this a few months back. But what the hell--I'm sure I can come up with some more random things.

1. I love musical movies. I'm not even embarassed about it, even though a lot of my favs are cosidered lame by pretty much everyone in the known world. This is the way I feel about most music, too. No matter how stupid I know some songs are I can't help loving them.

2. My Aunt's next door neighbor is really interested in tracing family histories. My mom got into it a few years ago and she tells pretty much everyone we know that we have documentation proving our relatives fought in the American Revolution and the Civil War. She doesn't brag about it, she just gives this ten-minute monologue that I've practically memorized about how family history is proven and all the scholarships people give out for shit like that. I really couldn't care less, and I'm pretty sure no else could either. This is one of the things I both love and hate about my mother.

3. Though I still consider myself a writer, I don't like telling people I want to write for a living. I wish I could write for a living, but I'm too realistic to depend on that. I've convinced myself that Genetic Counselor is the career for me. It combines everything I like about science and it comes with a hefty salary.

4. The house I lived in from the ages of six to fifteen got moved last week. They picked it up using a crane and ended up moving it a street away from where I live now. It was on the evening news. I'm still kind of in shock that people in this city consider something like that news.

5. I kind of have a thing for the sons of famous men three times my age. The biggest examples of this are my loves of Jakob Dylan and Dhani Harrison. Not sure what caused it, but there you go.

6. I used to go on a Pirates of the Caribbean Forum called Poppets and Pirates. It was recently invaed by idiots, and now I only go on to belittle the other members. My own shallowness can surprise me sometimes.

The Only Thing pnp is Good For

Trailer spoilage!!!!!!!! That is, the tentative script for the first Potc:3 trailer. I LOVED it, man. Very good imagery, very teasing, VERY awesome. The best bits (for me) will undoubtably be the quick-shots. According to the script there will be a quick shot of Will pushing Liz away (DRAMA!!!!!DIDDLY-DOOT!!!!DIDDLY-DOOT!!!!!) and a quick shot of James in Admiral's brocade. In short, I am very excited.

I've been thinking, and I've realized that whoever Liz kisses the most in each movie turns out to be the guy I like least in that particular movie. It has nothing to do with Liz, really, but I thought it was interesting that I liked Will the least in CotBP and I liked Jack the least in DMC. Hm.

But YAY!! Norrington!!! It still irks me that the only shot of him in the DMC trailer is the one where they're looking down into the chest and you can't even tell that it's him. Hmph.

Oh, and another reason to hate pnp: they have this game thread where all the characters were originally listed with ten points for each of them. Every person who replies subtracts one point from a character and adds on point to another. When a character has no points they die. And James died! And the girl who killed him was all, "Tee-hee! Bye-bye, Norry!"

Stupid Jack/Liz-shipping bitches. and I love how no one's ever commented on the fact that Vikki's signature is blatantly Sparrington. They're all probably too stupid to realize.

5. Johnny Depp
He looks great in his interview. I think he was shooting CotBP at the time so his facial hair is smokin'. There are some funny bits, but I especially love hearing himtalk about Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

4. Hugh Grant
The best part is when he talks about acting methods. He doesn't use them, and he says that one day when he's acheived everything he wants to as an actor he's going to open a surf shop.

3. Nathan Lane
For some reason he starts talking about Napoleon, and he does this amazing spit take that had me in stitches for about ten minutes.

2. Robin Williams
There are no words for how funny this man is. The actual interview took five hours to do, and they had to cut it down to two hours for the show.

1. Mike Myers
I wasn't even a fan of his when I saw the interview. He went through all of his most famous SNL characters and gave short interviews as each. The best part was his "Deidre" interview, references to which are scattered through Vikki's work.

And that's it. I'm willing to do more if people are curious. I've been trying to think up my top five Python sketches. It's been rather difficult.

This was also a toughy. I took it to mean only male actors. Besides, I don't really have favorite female actors.

5. Ewan MacGregor
Don't think I spelled that right. But I love him. Trainspotting is probably my favorite work of his. Watch it.

4. Liam Neeson
Love him, love him, love him. He's especially wonderful in Love Actually--probably not his best work, but the sweetest.

3. Colin Firth
I don't think I've ever seen him not be wonderful. In Shakespeare in Love he was a complete dick and I still loved it.

2. Jack Davenport
Oh yes. Very much so.

1. Hugh Grant
I don't think I need to explain.

The order isn't exactly accurate. It's kind of a five way tie, plus Alan Rickman and Paul Bettany. Which makes it a seven-way tie. Ooh, and Geoffrey Rush! I love him. Does it kill you how indecisive I can be?

You are nice, understanding, and don't judge people until you know them. You treat everyone fairly and make friends with practically everyone. You are very smart and cunning. You love to laugh. You have many admirers, but don't take notice.

Harry: He is in love with you, but doesn't know what to do. He's not sure if he should ask you out. He gets jealous very easily and doesn't understand how you can be nice to the Slytherins, specifically Malfoy. He wants to be the man of your dreams and hopes that you like him more than a friend.

Ron: Loves you as a friend and nothing more. He thanks you profusely for getting him and Hermione together and like Harry, he doesn't understand how you can be so nice to everyone.

Hermione: She thinks of you as her best gal pal and thanks you for getting her and Ron together. She's glad that you take your studies seriously and thinks you are great. She knows you treat people equally and respects your decisions.

Ginny: She doesn't like you because Harry loves you. She thinks you are great, but is really jealous of you. You two have grown distant, but you have hardly noticed with all the friends you have. Maybe one day you two will be friends again?

Neville: Has a little crush on you because you are the one who helps him with his schoolwork.

Fred and George: They think you are the best person in the world. You always come up with great pranks and laugh at their jokes. They love you and hope that you will always be there for a good prank.

Oliver Wood: Had a crush on you, but the age difference didn't work out right. He knows that you only love him as a friend and accepts it. He still has a crush on you, but has moved on. And that's okay with you.

Cedric Diggory: He thinks you're a good person who cares about everyone. You were the one who introduced him to Cho. He's glad you did and left this world with you as one of him close friends.Cho Chang: She is your actual bestfriend and thanks you for getting her and Cedric together. You are always there for her when she's crying about missing Cedric, and she appreciates it. You two are like sisters and she's grateful that you're her friend.

Lavender Brown: Thinks you are really nice, but doesn't like you because everyone likes you.

Draco Malfoy: He is also in love with you, like Potter. Him and Harry often fight for your affections. Is easily jealous, like Harry, and cares about you very much. He hopes that in the end you and him will be together. You are the only girl he loves and hopes you feel the same. He constantly worries about your safety and would give up everything for you.

Pansy: Hates you. Enough said.

Crabbe and Goyle: Have little crushes on you, but know that Draco would pummel them.

Dumbledore: Thinks you are a great person. Wishes you luck on choosing between Harry and Draco. He knows that you'll be a very good skilled witch in the future.

McGonagall: Also thinks you are a great student who has amazing skills, but worries that it might be very stressful to be as hardworking as you.

Hagrid: You are his favorite girl student because you didn't give up his class and always help him with the creatures. The creatures in the forbidden forest love you too. Odd huh?

Snape: He thinks you are an excellent student, doesn't like or dislike you. He knows you'd end up being a great witch.

Voldemort: Wants you to join him and hopes that you will end up with Malfoy. If you pick Harry, he plans to kill you instead of recruiting you.

Reputation: Girl who likes Draco and Harry.
Take this quiz!

Quizilla |
Join

| Make A Quiz | More Quizzes | Grab Code

Fifteen Fictional Men I Would Shag

Kinda self-explanatory. Anyone who reads this has to make thier own list because I'm a curious bitch.

This is, of course, in no particular order.

1. Patrick, Coupling
It's not exclusively because they're always going on about how amazing he is in the sack. Patrick is my favorite character because, of the three guys, he says the least and has the most serious expression on his face whenever Jeff starts in on one of his ridiculous theories. I heart all three of them, but who doesn't want to be Patricked? (Oh, and I love the name Patrick. I don't know why, but I think it's sexy.)

Favorite quote:
Susan: What's wrong with the left one?
Patrick: Oh, don't be like that. There's got to be a second place.
Susan: I wasn't aware you'd assessed them individually.
Patrick: You were asleep. I was bored.

2. James Norrington, Pirates of the Caribbean
I am such a sucker for voices. One, I like men that take their time (if you get my meaning). James doesn't rush. Two, I like deep voices. Jack Davenport naturally has a very deep voice, and James is the character that has a voice closest to Jack's--level save for that unfortunate piece of high-pitched work when he meets Jack in the first movie. Proper British accents alone make me hot, and James' voice is the epitome of all things tingle-worthy.

In addition to the audible attributes, I love his verbal assaults. So hot. And I love his honor, his arrogance, his intellect. I love that he doesn't trust anyone in DMC, and I especially love the look James gives Jack when they find the chest. *Tries to conceal love of Sparrington*

Favorite quote:
Gibbs: Commodore?
James: No! Not anymore. Weren't you listening?

3. Ephram Brown, Everwood
I'm not going to go off about all the Ephram-haters out there. I realize that he's an acquired taste. From the first I was kind of hooked on Ephram and Bright, but Bright's stupid-factor got in the way. I still mourning the loss of the series (mostly because the last episode was so anti-climactic for me) but I take comfort in the form of Season one on DVD. The biggest non-physical attraction is the piano thing. My favorite bits of the show were the episodes that focused on how amazingly talented he was.

Favorite quote:
"His name's Bright? How ironic."

4. George Weasley, Harry Potter
The only reason I re-read the books is for the comedic momments. I love that every time Fred and George are mentioned it's for humorous purposes. I'll admit it--I freely imagine that while Harry is wallowing in his own misery George is privatey growing up and dealing with increased independance since Fred now spends all his time with Angelina. I also imagine that George is the more wild twin. Plus, I love the name George.

Favorite quote:
"Special discounts to Hogwarts students who swear they'll use our products to get rid of this old bat."

5. Jess Mariano, Gilmore Girls
I have a thing for sarcastic bastards. And guys who read a lot. I love the idea of passionately arguing with him about books or music while ripping his clothes off.

Favorite quote:
"Hey, I've read Jane Austen. And I think she would have liked Bukowski."

6. Mr. Darcy, Pride and Prejudice
Definite preferance for the Colin Firth version. With Colin, the pages came to life, you know? Everything I loved about Darcy was present in Colin's performance. Again, the arrogance makes me want to jump him. I love it when men do things without demanding credit ot thanks, probably because I myself do very little without expecting gratitude.

Favorite quote:
Charlotte: I'm sure it must have damaged your admiration of her fine eyes.
Darcy: On the contrary. They were brightened by the exercise.

7. Edward, Sense and Sensibility
I can't even begin to say what attracts me to Edward. My love for him came on so gradually when I read the book--I didn't realize how yummy he was until my second reading. And with Hugh's performance everything I liked about Edward, plus loads of things I hadn't seen in the book, were played out superbly. Snaps for one of the less-revered Austen heroes!

(I have no quote for Edward. Sorry to dissapoint.)

8. Marcus Flutie, Sloppy Firsts
I'm addicted to Marcus. The postcard thing in Charmed Thirds made me want to hunt Megan McCafferty down and offer her my first born child. The relationship Marcus has with Jessica is the definition of what I want to have someday. He's amazingly self-aware. And if I get any flack about liking these books (I'm looking at you, Vikki) I'm going off.

Favorite quote:
"You told me to fuck myself. Which I did. Figuratively, of course. Literally that would be quite a feat."

9. Jimmy Hailer, Saving Francesca
I highly doubt that anyone will even know this one. Jimmy is a character in the book who gradually becomes friends with the protagonist. At the time, Francesca's life is total shit, and she tries for a while to shake Jimmy, but he's persistant for no other reason aside from wanting to be her friend. Even though it's a young adult semi-romance novel, I highly recommend it.

Jimmy's personality is so unbelievably appealing to me. He terrorizes people just by talking to them. He never says anything threatening (in fact, he's nice to everyone), but he always starts conversations with people he's never spoken to before. From Francesca's point of view, this makes him dangerous. But once she gets to know him she sees that, aside from a sarcastic streak, he has no alterior motives.

That was a really crappy summary. Just read the book. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Favorite quote:
Jimmy: So what's your favorite? The Sound of Music?
Francesca: I'm not as easy to work out as you are.
Jimmy: It is. I can tell. You love The Sound of Music.
Francesca: No I don't.
Jimmy: You've watched it fifteen times. You've jumped around a gazebo pretending you're sixteen going on seventeen. You've sung 'My Favorite Things' when you're sad, and every time Captain von Trapp's voice catches during 'Edelwiess,' you bawl your eyes out.
Francesca: Seems like I've watched it one or two times less than you have.

10. Captain von Trapp, The Sound of Music
A part of me likes it when a man takes charge. And Christopher Plummer was too die for in the movie. Particularly in the scene where he introduces Maria to the kids.

Favorite quote:
Maria: I'm not finished yet-
Georg: Oh, yes you are, Captain!...Freulein.

(Yeah, I totally butchered the German there. My apologies.)

11. Josh Lyman, The West Wing
Ok, bear with me on this one. Remember the episode that aired just after 9/11? A group of students comes to take a tour of the White House and the entire place gets put on lock-down because they think there's a terrorist working there? (Or...something like that.) Josh, Sam, Charlie, CJ and the First Lady end up answering the questions that the students have. What Josh said in this episode made me fall in love and lust with him. There was one really politically savvy student, and his interaction with Josh was really cool. I don't love politics but I love history, which is why I found that episode so interesting.

I digress. I would bang Josh, have a conversation about history, then tell him to get off his ass and go live happily ever after with Donna.

(There's no Josh quote, either. Sorry again.)

12. Steven Hyde, That 70s Show
This one's conditional. He'd have to shave off any facial hair he has at the time and keep the sunglasses on.

Favorite quote:
"Dating is prostitution. Except sometimes you don't get what you pay for.

(I never said I wanted to marry the guy.)

13. George Wade, Two Weeks Notice
I just love Hugh Grant a heck of a lot. And the name George, but you knew that all read. George's sense of humor is his biggest non-physical attraction.

Favorite quote:
Lucy: You called everywhere except for Slurpy Heaven!
George: That's not true. I did call Slurpy Heaven. They didn't want you. Heard you had additude. Said you weren't Slurpy material.

14. Jamie, Love Actually
I just love Colin Firth a heck of a lot. Especially in that polo neck at the end.

Favorite quote:
"It's my favorite time of day...driving you."

15. Nick, The Wedding Date
Never before has paying for sex tempted me in the slightest. But damn, did he change my mind.

Thank god I'm done. That took much longer than I intended it to. I wich I could give pictures, but I'm too bored with this all ready.

Update! We have chosen the perfect man to be our Antagonist...ish...not really. Well...I guess the story will clear up that confusion...if we ever post it. Anyroad-

Warrick: Alan Rickman

Oh, you know you want him. That hair...that cravat...that confused and arrogant look. Welcome to the cast, Alan!

The name meme

I stole this from minnow

Are you named after anyone? If so, explain.

My great aunt. She isn't related to me by blood, but my father has always liked her more than most of his blood relatives.

Do you have your children's names picked out already? If so, is there any significance?

I have a lot of names picked out even though I don't expect to ever have kids. Liam, Gabriel, Linus and Schroeder are some favorites for boys. Evelina, Aida, or Damia for a girl.

If you were born a member of the opposite sex what would your name have been?

Zachary. Not bad, except that there were a bajillion other boys born around that time named Zachary.

If you could re-name yourself what name would you pick and why?

Honestly, I like my name, so I'd probably keep it if I had the choice. But if I had to change I'd call myself Seda.

Are there any mispronunciations/typos that people do w/ your name constantly?

There's the standard "with a K or a C?" question that everyone asks. I don't think my name looks as good spelt with a "K", so mostly I bristle a bit when people spell it that way. A lot of people (including my own relatives) call me Christine. I used to correct them, but now I just fume in silence.
